INSTITUTIONAL DECLARATION

Malabo, 02-20-2009:CIDGE.-The House of Representatives of the People, due to the acts of violence that took place on the morning of the 17th of this month, consistent with a terrorist attack perpetuated by the group named Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, which arrived in the Capital in several boats and attacked the Presidential Palace, causing the death of one person and considerable material damage, stated the following: 1. That it enthusiastically condemns with the most absolute and total repulsion the grave and unacceptable terrorist act in question, whose repressed authors should be punished to the full extent of the Laws of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea on foreign aggression and terrorism. 2. That it enthusiastically congratulates the Armed Forces of the Security of the State for their energetic and forceful answer to the mercenary and terrorist attack, in this way upsetting their diabolic intensions. 3. That it offers the Government it’s complete and unconditional support in its policy against terrorism and international mercenaries, and therefore recommends maximizing the prevention and repression of such situations in an effort to preserve peace, stability and tranquility which reign in the country. It asks that the people remain vigilant, informing and denouncing at any moment to the national authorities and their agents who work in the area of national defense and security any time they observe something that may threaten this peace, progress and development which the sons of Equatorial Guinea have known to labor under the knowledgeable direction of his Excellency Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of the Republic, Head of State and Founding President of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea.
